 IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN RIGHTS:

Human rights are basic rights that belong to all of the United States. Simply because we are human. They embody fundamental values in our society critical such as fairness dignity, equality, and respect. They are an important means of protection for us all, especially those who may face abuse, neglect, and isolation.

MEANING OF HUMAN RIGHTS:

HR are standers that recognize and protect the dignity of all human beings. 

HR governs how individual human beings live in a society and with each other, as well as their relationship with the state and the obligations that the state has towards them. 

WHEN WERE HUMANS CREATED?

1948:

Universal declaration of HR

Adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948, the declaration sets out a range of rights and freedoms to which everyone, everywhere in the world, is entitled.

WHO PROMOTED HUMAN RIGHTS IN 1945?

April 25, 1925, a representative from fifty nations convened in SA FRANCISCO to organize the United Nations.

NATURE OF HUMAN RIGHTS:

HR are special sort of inalienable moral entitlement. 

They attach to all persons equally, by their humanity, irrespective of race, nationality, or membership in any particular social group.

HOW HUMAN RIGHTS ARE VIOLATED?

Civil and criminal rights are violated through genocide, torture, and arbitrary arrest.

These violations often happen during times of war and when a human rights violation intersects with the breaking of laws about armed conflict, it's known as a war crime.

HOW ARE HUMAN RIGHTS ENFORCED?

 The government is obligated to protect and promote human rights by prohibiting violations by officials and agents of the state, prosecuting offenders, and creating ways that individuals can seek help for rights violations, such as competent, independent, and impartial courts.

WHY ARE HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTED?

The concept of HR empowers people and tells them that they deserve dignity from society, whether it's the government or their work environment when they don't receive it, they can stand up.

WHAT HAPPENS IF HUMAN RIGHTS ARE NOT PROTECTED?

HR cannot be protected in society without a strong rule of law. 

The rule of law is an implementation mechanism for HR, turning them from a principle into reality.

During the apartheid period in South Africa, this day became known as Sharpeville day, though it was never a public holiday.

HUMAN RIGHTS ARE INALIENABLE

This means that you cannot lose them because they are linked to the very fact of human existence,
