Introduction:

Authoritarianism, in politics and government, the blind submission to authority and the repression of individual freedom of thought and action. Authoritarian regimes are systems of government that have no established mechanism for the transfer of executive power and do not afford their citizens civil liberties or political rights. Power is concentrated in the hands of a single leader or a small elite, whose decisions are taken without regard for the will of the people. 

Use of Authoritarian:

The term authoritarianism is often used to denote any form of government that is not democratic, but studies have demonstrated that there is a great deal of variation in authoritarian rule.

Theories:

Authoritarian theory describe that all forms of communications are under the control of the governing elite or authorities or influential bureaucrats.

Meaning:

Definitions of authoritarian state A government that concentrates political power in an authority not responsible to the people. 

Necessity:

Authoritarians are necessary to control the media to protect and prevent the people from the national threats through any form communication ( information or news).

Who is father of authoritarian theory?

Theodor Adorno, a sociologist, is credited with the theory of authoritarian personality, which addressed the need for an explanation of prejudice and racism. Adorno  believed that a certain personality structure was common among people who may fall victim to anti-democratic ideology.

An authoritarian role involves being a strongman or elite leader that consolidates power and controls various governmental institutions, nation laws, and civic practices. As a result, individuals, their freedom, and democratic values are restricted.

Authoritarian governments can come in many forms, including hereditary dictatorships; military juntas; religious theocracies; and communist, or fascist regimes. Many authoritarian governments also rank among the most corrupt governments in the world.

What is Authoritarianism?

The term authoritarianism generally means a controlling, oppressive, government with concentrated power at the expense of its people and their individual freedoms. More specifically, authoritarianism refers to the governments of countries that have strongmen leaders or select elites that control power through systematic manipulation of civic and governmental institutions ( and their functions). In other words, authoritarianism is a ruling group of leaders and elites that use and manipulate the government or the government's operations to gain, maintain, and isolate power away from the people. 

 Difference between a authoritative and authoritarian government?

While the terms "authoritative "and " authoritarian" leadership sound similar and are often used interchangeably they are different. Authoritative leaders guide their team by example and inspire progression toward a common goal, whereas authoritarian leaders rely on commands and demand compliance without question.
